AI/ML is essential to many core products and services at Facebook. This talk covers the hardware and software infrastructure that supports Facebook AI at global scale. Facebook’s AI workloads are extremely diverse with services requiring many different types of models in practice. This diversity has implications at all layers of the system stack. In addition, computational requirements are also intense, leveraging both GPU and CPU platforms for training and abundant CPU capacity for real-time inference. Addressing these and other emerging challenges continues to require diverse efforts while considering hardware and software co-design.
