Delta Electronics has over ten years of experience in data center solutions. A promising datacenter networking solution is deemed to be one of the cornerstones to making 5G promises a reality. In this talk, Maria Yuang first addresses several main challenges of building a viable datacenter network infrastructure that cannot be achieved with the typical technologies in some use cases. She will review the current trend in SDN-based paradigm in the context of datacenter network control. Dr. Yuang will then present the pioneering research and development of an intelligence-defined optical data center network infrastructure by Delta and NCTU, called Optical Tunnel Network System (OPTUNS). OPTUNS consists of two types of optical switching nodes, and is controlled based on an SDN+ paradigm. The talk will showcase the OPTUNS architecture, the prototypes of optical switching nodes, and the proof-of-technology testbed. The talk will also highlight some key performance benchmarking results.
