It is still unclear within the OCP community what is the maximum current and power limit that could be delivered with the 12V busbars defined in the Open Rack Standard 2.0. Bel Power Solution, Rittal and Circle B presents a study to assess losses, voltage drop, airflow and temperature rise in different configurations reflecting existing or potential applications in the market. The study reflects the expertise of the three companies and will constitute a guideline for any company that decides to adopt an Open Rack solution. The study will address different rack configurations and IT loading. The results show the performance of a 12V rack power distribution with the current busbars and demonstrates better performance with an improved busbar designs to cover more challenging applications.
