Improving Cloud System Up-Time with Run-time Firmware Update and Activation

Today when the system firmware are updated, it is typically requires system reset and reload of the OS is required to get the services back up and running again. This means, the system services need to be migrated or restarted to accommodate for new firmware. The cloud workloads often demands for uninterrupted services from compute systems. The session would outline vision for run-time firmware and run-time firmware activation for Open Compute Project platforms. The session will revisit various typically used firmware components and various pre-requests need to be in place for successful run-time firmware update and activation for Open System Firmware.
