Ownership and Control of Firmware in Open Compute Project Devices

A firmware owner controls what firmware is allowed to run on a device or platform. Firmware ownership affects the overall security of OCP devices, which, in turn, affects the security of the compute infrastructure in which the devices are deployed. This session describes secure and efficient methods of establishing, representing, and transferring control of firmware in a device or platform. It provides detailed examples of ownership transfers throughout the lifecycle of a device. Finally, it relates these examples to the OCP tenets of efficiency, scalability, openness, and impact.
