We propose an openBMC development platform that would be the actual baseboard management controller platform and hardware you could leverage in any OCP design. At a high level it would consist of a BMC Mezzanine daughter card routing all major signals through a small pitch connector allowing a reusable, standardized footprint for OCP hardware designs. An additional development board would allow developers access to the BMC mezzanine early in the HW lifecycle, increasing openBMC contributions and adoption. The daughter card itself, which we call openBMC, would provide flexibility, reusability, and added velocity for server and switch designs in the Open Compute project.
