As applications are migrating closer to the user and the data, data center architectures are becoming more complicated. To deliver these complex edge networks, the ecosystem needs to change the way in which it is working together. The edge’s unique challenges can only be fully addressed by a collaborative environment that encompasses all the key partners – physical infrastructure vendors, system integrators, IT equipment manufacturers, managed service providers, and the customer. Further, as data lakes with massive amounts of normalized data are created, we can take that collaborative environment to the next level by developing open APIs. Implementing open APIs and allowing 3rd parties to access the data lakes enables the deployment of open-sourced applications and strengthens the edge ecosystem. This presentation will highlight three keys to achieving a resilient edge:
- A collaborative ecosystem that includes the customer is necessary
- Cloud-based software is imperative to managing the edge
- Resiliency is strengthened through open APIs for data lakes allowing open-sourced applications
